Mana Ake - Stronger for Tomorrow

About

Taku mana, taku mana.

 Mana motuhake, mana motuhake

Taku ihi, taku ihi

Taku wanawana, taku wanana.

I have mana, I have mana and no one can take it away from me.

I am awesome, I am awesome. See me in my awesomeness.

Mana Ake - Stronger for Tomorrow was established in March 2018 to support the wellbeing of children in school years 1-8 living with the legacy of earthquakes across Canterbury and Kaikoura.

The initiative aims to provide early intervention and support for teachers, families and whānau when children are experiencing ongoing issues that are impacting their wellbeing. The service can support individual children and groups of children and provide information and workshops for parents.

The Mana Ake service was rolled out to schools in the Tamai (east Christchurch) and Uru Mānuka (Hornby) Kāhui Ako (Communities of Learning) on 30 April 2018. The people providing the service have a diverse range of skills and include, social workers, whānau ora kaimahi, counsellors and kaihaumanu. They are available to support children and their families/whānau at school and at home and they will be in schools regularly.

From term 3, July 2018, Mana Ake will be progressively rolled out to all primary schools across Canterbury and Kaikoura (by geographic cluster).
