More than 200 general practice staff have taken the opportunity to provide feedback about the pressures on general practice, in a survey open throughout June. 

The survey was created by the Primary Care Taskforce (PCTF) and will be an immense help to guide the work of the taskforce in progressing local changes to reduce the demands on general practice and improve communities access to care.

Chair of the PCTF Kim Burgess says we’re thrilled with both the volume of responses and the well-considered and comprehensive feedback, which highlights the passion and willingness from practice teams to improve our community’s access to primary care and the value they place on supporting this local work.  

“The taskforce is drawing on early survey findings to shape the work already underway, that includes exploring ways to retain our general practice staff and alternative approaches to inbox management,” says Kim. 

“The comprehensive analysis of the survey will guide future work on where we focus our efforts to relieve some pressure from our hard-working practice teams.” 

“We would like to acknowledge the Primary Health Organisations for their support with distributing the survey, and the people who indicated they would like to be involved with the PCTF (close to half of all respondents). We’re immensely grateful for this support, considering how busy our practice teams are and we’re currently contacting this group.”

The taskforce is currently analysing the survey themes and finalising how the feedback will guide their work, which they will share once completed in the next few weeks.
