ALT seeks new Independent Chairperson

The Canterbury Clinical Network Alliance provides leadership to the integration and transformation of the Canterbury health system, enabled by clinically-led service development and improvement. Partners to the CCN District Alliance Agreement come together to understand and respond to the needs of the population, plan and drive service changes drive service changes that improve the health outcomes of our population and make the best use of the available resources.

The Alliance Leadership Team (ALT) leads the CCN Alliance and sets the overarching objectives and strategic focus and required responses.

Membership comprises an independent Chair, clinical leaders, consumers, community leaders, health managers and experts from across our health system. Members are selected for their competencies and perspectives, and commitment to acting in good faith to reach consensus on a ‘best for person, best for system’ basis.

The ALT establishes and oversees the activity of the various alliance groups that lead the development of improved service delivery within specific areas; and provides system-level oversight and monitoring of alliance activity. The ALT also provides leadership and support to alliance partnerships and monitors adherence to alliance principles.

 

The role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating and fostering ALT’s collective responsibility for group decisions.
  • Building effective relationships with, and between, group members.
  • Retaining the focus of the person and their whānau at the centre of service development and improvement, whilst striving for equitable health outcomes across all population groups.
  • Establishing an effective relationship with the CCN Executive Director that contributes to achievement of the Alliance’s strategic objectives and outcomes
  • Supporting alliance partnerships, adherence with Alliance Charter principles and consensus decision making.
  • Ensuring transparent accountability structures are in place across the alliance.

From you:

  • Extensive experience chairing meetings, governance processes, managing group dynamics, conflicts of interest, and facilitating discussions towards consensus decision making.
  • A track record of making things happen, facilitating and influencing positive change in complex systems.
  • Ability to deliver results and maintaining relationships in a manner that clearly reflects a commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving health outcomes for Māori.
  • Personal skills and traits that contribute to a culture of capability, candour, efficiency, kindness, trust and professionalism.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Strategic thinker and ability to think outside the square taking a whole of system view.

The ALT currently meets on the third Monday of the month from 4.30 to 7.30pm and is governed by a Charter of Alliance Principles (Alliance Charter) and guided by a set of ALT Operating Procedures (ALT Operating Procedures). Eleven meetings are planned for 2020.

The Independent Chair will receive payment monthly, at an annual rate agreed by the Chief Executive of the Canterbury DHB in consultation with the ALT.
