Enhanced Capitation survey results

Elly Edwards |24 Nov, 2017 | Archive |

Recently general practices were asked how they were using their Enhanced Capitation funds. All 116 general practices responded and analysis of the survey responses shows:

  • The change has been well received, with only two practices indicating that they didn’t support the change to Enhanced Capitation. Many practices acknowledged the value of the increased flexibility in the use of the funds and reduction in administration time.
  • The majority of practices are using the Enhanced Capitation funds to provide patients with free or reduced cost consultations, to enable patients to access other services, and to employ additional staff resources and/or support multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Some practices have implemented new approaches to providing care; such as health assessments for specific groups with complex health needs, and using additional staff time to coordinate patient access to services.
