The joint PHO enrolment/transfer guidelines have been finalised and are in place with good acceptance coming from general practice. Data is being collated to monitor patients who present at AAU who are not enrolled and support by the PHO is being offered to these patients that would like to enrol in general practice or would like help with navigation through health services.

Communication through Mid Canterbury newspapers is occurring with the aim to reinforce messaging around enrolment and transferring general practice, along with the ongoing promotion of the call your GP 24/7 message.

The delivery of general practice into Ashburton aged residential care facilities (ARC) is variable across and within practices. Guidance was sought on how best to progress consultation with ARC facilities, residents and their families on their individual preferences for general practice delivery into ARC facilities and a process for engaging with general practice following this consultation.

A working group formed to address cultural competency in the Ashburton Health workforce and has meet and initiated a stocktake of SLA membership organisational documentation on cultural development and competency. This will assist in identifying gaps and the direction of this work.

Sexual health service provision and accessibility in Ashburton has been identified as an area of need following the withdrawal of the family planning service last year. This was initially raised as a concern for the youth of Ashburton, but has been identified to include the wider population of Ashburton also. The SLA is to include monitoring of this work in the 2020 -21 work plan.
