CCN has released the second progress report (October to December) for 2017/18. Highlights include the increased number of Advanced Care Plans written within general practice teams, stabilisation of the community provider workforce and a huge step towards achieving the national target for HPV vaccinations for girls born in 2004.

Other items of note include:

• The Collaborative care team won the poster presentation at the Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ) conference in Rotorua in November.
• 1,126 Equally Well free General Practice consultations were delivered to adults with a serious mental illness. 90 free consults were delivered to youth aged 13 to 24 years.
• Under the Child and Youth Workstream, a Whanau Ora position and Partnership Community Worker (PCW) resource has been identified to provide support to teenage parents in navigating the health and social service systems available to parents and young people.
• Work is ongoing through the HOPWS to investigate options for Respite Care in the home, and in particular to increase options for the utilisation of Carer Support allocations. The HOPWS is also investigating the possibility of one-off respite nights or “Night Care” in Aged Residential Care
• Community Providers report that ‘In between travel’, guaranteed hours, and pay equity have contributed to a stabilisation of the workforce.
• Kaikoura has re-established spirometry services with a new GP interpreter trained.
