Consumer perspective sought for CCN Alliance Leadership Team

The Alliance leadership team is responsible for agreeing the Canterbury health alliance's objectives and the focus areas and services that need to be provided to meet these objectives. 

Guided by an independent Chairperson, ALT is made up of clinical leaders, key health managers, consumer and other experts from across the Canterbury health system. Members bring a range of competencies and clinical and community perspectives, committing to act in good faith to reach consensus decisions on the basis of ‘best for patient, best for system’. Members do not represent the views of specific organisations, but bring perspectives from across the system.

The role of the ALT includes establishing Workstreams, Service Level Alliances, Programmes and other Working Groups to oversee the development and delivery of services, as well as providing system-level oversight, monitoring and reporting of activity.

It's now seeking expressions of interest for a consumer perspective. The competencies and attributes required from a consumer perspective are:

  • Demonstrates ability to reflect and consider the health and social needs of the patient and Canterbury population and to contribute to decision making on a ‘best for patient best for system’ basis.
  • Respected and connected across consumer networks in the Canterbury region and in a position to communicate, receive feedback, influence and lead change within consumer networks;
  • Demonstrates ability to take a ‘whole system’ health view;
  • Has had exposure to (and ideally participated in) transformation and continuous improvement activity across the Canterbury health system;
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills;
  • Strategic thinker and ability to think outside the square;
  • Recognises the value of working in an alliancing framework;
  • Demonstrates ability to actively contribute and challenge in a group environment and work constructively with other disciplines and perspectives in a team approach;
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritise and meet timelines.

ALT meets monthly and is governed by a Charter of Alliance Principles as well as a set of ALT Operating Procedures.The new ALT member is eligible for remuneration as outlined in the CCN Remuneration Policy
