Expressions of interest sought for Pacific Reference Group - Community Provider

Elly Edwards |02 Aug, 2018 | Archive |

A vacancy has arisen for a Community Provider on the Canterbury-wide Pacific Reference Group.

Canterbury has a growing Pacific population, with new arrivals from many Pacific nations as well as a growing locally born population. Many Pacific people face particular health, social and economic issues.

The Pacific Reference Group was established as a forum where providers of health services to Pacific peoples in Canterbury come together to seek to address these health issues, as well as inequities in health outcomes. The key purpose of the Pacific Reference Group is ‘To lead the Canterbury health system toward achieving health equity for Pacific peoples in Canterbury.'

The Pacific Reference Group includes managers from across the health sector including Pegasus Health, the three Canterbury PHOs, CDHB, Etu Pasifika, Screen South, the Ministry for Pacific Peoples and primary health care providers. A Terms of Reference (attached) guides the work of the Group, which is informed by reports from the respective members.

The Pacific Reference Group meets six weekly on a Thursday from 9:00-11:00 am at Pegasus Health. It is the expectation that the Pacific provider will attend in their professional capacity.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Provider with strong Pacific community links to be involved in contributing to improving health outcomes for Canterbury’s Pacific population.
If you are interested in applying please forward an expression of interest including a brief summary about your practice and the work undertaken with Pacific communities.
Should further information be required please contact Caroline Butler, phone 353 0061 or email caroline.bulter@pegasus.org.nz

Closing date for applications is 17th August 2018
